Razzamataz returns to Her Majesty’s theatre
Children dreaming of a life as a performer got the opportunity of a lifetime with the chance to perform on a West End stage. Soaking up the history and atmosphere of Her Majesty’s theatre, home to Phantom of the Opera, was a magical experience for students who attend a national theatre school franchise.
Razzamataz Theatre School took approximately 300 students to London to perform in a gala showcase, where they got to sing, dance and act to a full house of friends, family and former students, including many who now make their living performing in the West End in shows such as Hamilton. The performance will show what students learn every week and will demonstrate a range of genres from street dance and commercial singing through to more traditional West End musical theatre styles.
In the audience was also Felicity French, Casting Director at Cameron Mackintosh Ltd. Current credits include Les Miserables West End, UK Tour and in concert, Hamilton West End, The Phantom of the Opera West End and UK Tour and most recently Mary Poppins West End. Felicity was delighted to be asked to review the show as she explains: “I’m thrilled that Razzamataz are able to provide such wonderful opportunities for students like performing at this iconic theatre. We actually hold our Phantom of the Opera auditions on this very stage. Who knows, maybe in years to come some of these talented youngsters will be back auditioning for us.”
The opportunity to perform on a West End stage was so popular that this year, Razzamataz are hosting two events; one in December and then again in February.
Razzamataz is gearing up to celebrate 20 years in business in 2020. Continuing to inspire students and offer them wonderful opportunities is forefront at all times with further opportunities planned including: performing at the Indigo at the 02 and overseas performance opportunities at Disneyland® Paris and a new venture called Razz at Sea, which offers students the chance to perform to an international audience and meet the show cast on a cruise ship.
“We have always believed that these experiences benefit every child, from those that want to work professionally to those that attend to make new friends and build their confidence,” says Denise Hutton-Gosney, MD and Founder of Razzamataz. “As we approach our 20th year in business, we are looking to offer even more fantastic experiences for both the students and the franchisees who run the schools. Being part of a successful franchise network allows our Principals to offer students and their families a chance to make these very special memories.”
Another benefit of being part of a large and successful franchise is the opportunity to collaborate with other franchisees and learn from their experiences. Taking such a large number of students on a trip and ensuring the safety and enjoyment for each and every child is of paramount importance, which is why Razzamataz can rely on their team of experts to deliver a spectacular day for all involved.
“To offer the very best training and experiences we feel that it is important for us all to continue to learn, which is why we regularly work with experts in a wide range of fields to ensure we are always delivering the very best for our students and Principals,” adds Denise.
